Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Contractors Authority, Mohammed Al Ajlan, said the construction sector accounts for approximately 7% of Saudi Arabia’s economy, with its contribution expected to grow further as the Kingdom continues to advance its ambitious development projects. He noted that the real estate and contracting sectors are experiencing rapid growth and offer promising investment opportunities for SMEs.

Al Ajlan revealed that nearly 117,000 contractors are officially registered with the Saudi Contractor Authority, reflecting the sector’s expanding scale and the growing opportunities available for qualified businesses to participate in national development projects.

His remarks came during the opening session of Real Estate and Construction Week, organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority “Monsha’at” in partnership with the Real Estate General Authority and the Saudi Contractor Authority from 12–16 July 2026 as part of the Business Weeks series. The event aims to help entrepreneurs and SME owners capitalize on opportunities in the real estate and contracting sectors by connecting them with enabling entities, funding solutions, and strategic partnerships.

He emphasized that talent development, governance, safety, and digital transformation are the key pillars for enhancing SME readiness and strengthening their competitiveness. He added that partnerships and strategic alliances play an important role in expanding growth opportunities and increasing SMEs’ participation in major projects.

He also highlighted the Saudi Contractor Authority’s ongoing initiatives and programs to improve the capabilities of Saudi contractors and support the long-term sustainability of their businesses. He noted that some SMEs continue to face challenges, including inadequate project planning, inaccurate pricing, and poor cash flow management, encouraging entrepreneurs to take advantage of the sector’s growing opportunities.

During the first day of the event, Monsha’at and the Saudi Contractor Authority signed a cooperation agreement to support SMEs operating in the construction sector. The agreement focuses on delivering joint programs and services while enhancing integration between the two organizations’ platforms and initiatives to improve business readiness, support growth, and help SMEs benefit from opportunities across the sector.

The opening day also featured the participation of more than 40 public and private sector entities in specialized sessions and networking meetings. Discussions covered investment opportunities in the real estate and construction sectors, ways to enable SMEs to participate in development projects and supply chains, as well as funding solutions, PropTech, strategic partnerships, and best practices for sustainable business growth.

The week is being held at SMEs Support Centers in Riyadh, Madinah, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. Additional activities are taking place in Abha in collaboration with Aseer Region Development Authority and Work Corner Incubator, and in Sakaka in partnership with the Culture House, extending the event’s reach to entrepreneurs across the Kingdom.

Real Estate and Construction Week forms part of Monsha’at’s broader efforts to strengthen the SMEs support ecosystem by improving access to investment opportunities and enabling organizations in high-growth sectors, ultimately enhancing SME competitiveness and supporting sustainable growth in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
