Monsha’at and Namaa Launch the Venture Capital Initiative

The Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority “Monsha’at” and the Local Content and Private Sector Development Unit (Namaa) launched the Venture Capital Initiative for SMEs, with capital of SAR 2.8 billion, as part of the Private Sector Stimulus Plan.
The Venture Capital Initiative focuses on investing in enterprises during their early growth stages and closing the current financing gaps for SMEs. The initiative comprises three main programs: the startup investment program, the fund investment program, and the co-investment program with the private sector.
The initiative aims to support and stimulate the spread of private equity and venture capital funds, stimulate the equity financing environment for entrepreneurs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, cover the current financing gaps for startups, support and generate jobs, and increase investment opportunities in enterprises.
Through the Venture Capital Initiative, Monsha’at aspires to contribute to providing equity financing solutions in the SME sector, in order to increase and raise its contribution to GDP from 20% to 35% by 2030, especially as the initiative operates entirely in partnership with private sector investors.
The Venture Capital Initiative is the third initiative Monsha’at has launched in cooperation with the Local Content and Private Sector Development Unit (Namaa) as part of the Private Sector Stimulus Plan, after the Indirect Lending Initiative, which aims to provide financing solutions and loans with competitive features to SMEs and entrepreneurs, and the Estrdad initiative, which aims to refund government fees to help startups grow and strengthen their chances of success and the sustainability of their businesses.
